Studio Deshi‘s workspace design challenges conventions by prioritizing Vastu principles and personalized elements, offering a balanced, wellness-focused environment with custom workstations, strategic color zoning, and innovative lighting solutions.

“A Square Peg in a Round Hole” is an innovative workspace concept, challenging conventional office layouts by prioritizing Vastu principles and personalized design elements. Aligned with the client’s requirement for Vastu compliance, each workstation is oriented to face either north or east, fostering a balanced environment that enhances employee well-being alongside productivity. Rejecting standardized modular layouts, this design incorporates custom workstations and tailored lighting solutions developed through detailed behavioral studies, creating a workspace that integrates functionality with a commitment to holistic wellness.

Distinct zones are defined through strategic use of color, striking a refined balance between corporate professionalism and a dynamic, engaging ambiance. This palette, including terracotta, sage green, blue, and earthy hues, not only enriches the visual appeal but also supports a calm, focused atmosphere conducive to creativity. Natural light floods the space, enhanced by seamless concrete flooring and abundant greenery, fostering a refreshing, contemporary setting. This design captures the flexibility and openness seen in tech-industry offices while retaining the elegance characteristic of corporate environments.

Addressing the evolving needs of post-pandemic workspaces, the office design incorporates adaptable elements and a blend of traditional and modern aesthetics. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a curved parametric wall that symbolizes the client’s core values, interweaving technology and heritage. This parametric feature continues into the conference area, where it functions as an acoustic ceiling. In the bullpen, or general staff area, custom-designed workstations include innovative curved pipes that serve as both structural support and ergonomic wrist rests, enhancing the user experience. Additionally, a contemporary take on a traditional temple adds a spiritual dimension to the workspace, while the director’s office, featuring deeper tones, provides a private retreat from the vibrant environment.

Lighting plays an essential role in establishing the ambiance and functionality of the office. A custom-designed C-channel fixture with vertical lights is the main ambient lighting source, setting it apart from conventional technical fixtures to create a distinctive atmosphere. Profile lights and circular fixtures in shared areas offer even light distribution with adjustable intensity, ensuring appropriate illumination throughout the day.

A Square Peg in a Round Hole redefines the modern office as an inclusive, collaborative space that supports productivity, creativity, and well-being. This design not only sets a new standard for workplace aesthetics but also exemplifies how thoughtful architecture can adapt to the changing demands of contemporary businesses and their workforce.
